Everyone knows their have been problems and recalls with the NVIDIA 8600M GT video card purchased between 07-08. But I personally never had and issue with mine, that is until this past Friday.

First my screen froze, followed by the Blue Screen of Death and then my computer restarted. Windows Aero was automatically disabled and I was unable to enable it. I tried to enable it in control panel settings but it said something along the lines that their was an issue with my video card. The Dell BIOS screen was distorted at start up and so were my video files upon trying to play them.

I tried re-installing the driver with no luck. Then checked NVIDIA's website to make sure I was using to most recent driver, which I was. Then checked again on Sunday, and their was a new driver available! Installed it, and now everything works fine!

Did anyone else have this problem?

On another subject, I'm thinking about purchasing another laptop soon. Would anyone recommend the HP ENVY Spectre?

I would say you are lucky as that is usually the first symptom of Nvidia failure are some artifacts and random BSOD of the Nvidia driver. I would look to sell your M1530 as they are still 300+ because the Intel HD 3000 graphics outperforms the 8600M GT, on boards graphics have much more potent in the past 5 years.

I probably am going to sell it. Started having problems with it again tonight. Screen freezes, BSOD, computer restarts. Before Windows desktop finishes starting up, screen freezes again, pop up says video drivers stopped working, BSOD and restarts.

Kind of sucks because I got it running like new again with the new SSD I put in it a few months ago. But I guess it gives me an excuse to purchase a new computer! Any recommendations? Haha :)

This I absolutely agree with, business laptops are better built, more durable and the majority of mainstream Latitudes/ThinkPads have a 3 year warranty in the base price making it a better overall value.
