Hi. 1st post. Long time lurker, though. Used advice from here to help build my friend a pretty sager np8150.

Anyways, I've had a dell xps m1530 since January of 8th grade (I'm a junior in high school right now.) It's been working fine until just recently - after not touching the laptop for ~3 weeks, I boot it up and have this: http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/497335-m1530-green-screen.html issue.
All the black pixels on the screen are now green, and the blues/other pixels are sometimes purple. Also a couple vertical lines of pixels that don't move or change color at all. VGA output is fine, haven't tested HDMI yet. I took apart the computer, reseated the cables, no change.

I know that the 8600 series mobile cards had overheating problems - I was wondering, could it be this? Or possibly the motherboard?

I checked the xps m1530 owner's lounge, but it's pretty inactive, so I'm posting here.

    System specs:
    Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 ghz, 3072 mb ddr2 667 mhz ram, 8600m GT, seagate momentus 7200.3 HDD 250gb, 1680x1050 display

If VGA output is fine, then your LCD/LCD cable is going bad.
