just got my XPS M1530 today, i ran a few games and 3dmark06 and found that the laptop can expell quite alot of heat out the back at load and the fan noise is pretty noticible at times.

i then ran Core Temp to check its temptures and its about 55c idle and can go up to 75c at load. is this normal?

i play alot of games (wow) so i guess the laptop will have to be under this kind of stress for prolonged periods everyday, is this bad for the computer to be under this kind of heat all the time?

Is this the CPU or the graphics card? For a graphics card, it's pretty low and abit higher than normal for a cpu but nothng dramatic

Your temperatures are pretty similar to what I get. At stock settings it would idle ~50C until it heated up and the fan came on at 60C, under load it'd be up around 75C.

I undervolted my processor from the stock (1.3V?) to 1.012V and now it hardly ever goes past 62C load. The graphics chip still concerns me, idling around 63-65C and going up to 75-78C under load, but it's still within the limits.

Intel's site claims that the mobile C2D's are good up to 100C.

I'd say that's a pretty high figure, but since you're not even close to that, I doubt you have anything to worry about.

Temps on the T7300 in my D830 run about the same. And yes, the fan is very noticeable once it gets going.
