I just received my M1530 from Dell and noticed that there's a gap between the black border trimming around the webcam and the top of the lid.

If you have the laptop open like you're using, then at the top of the black trim above the screen it starts flush with the colored part on the lid of the laptop but slowly separates towards the middle (right below the silver notch to open the lid) and then goes flush again on the other side.

Is this a normal build? I can post a pic if it's not clear in the post.

    I'm looking at my 1530 right now..and I don't have this *gap*.

It doesn't sound like a normal build.

You probably need to decide if this going to bother you, and if it's causing any other probs with the lid, webcam, or lappy.

You can call Dell for a replacement, since you just received it. Or, call and have them send a Tech to fix (if you have onsite repair). ;)

oh that just looks like the housing wasn't snapped into place.

although for a new notebook, i'd complain =X

That shouldn't look like that for a brand new lappy. :(

I would definitely call Dell and get a replacement...

I used to have exactly the same problem, and I still do now...

Just forcibly snap the plastic back onto the lid...It usually snaps back on like it should, but still sometimes gets loose...

Believe it or not, but this has happened to the silver side portions of my screen as well, and have a feeling it will happen to the small alumium portion right above the left USB ports, near the AC/Power Supply connection...

Oish..I don't think I could handle to continually force the lid back into place. I would probably get frustrated, toss it out on the road ~ and watch a semi run it over..

And, it's happened around the interior rim of the right & left of the screen for you too? Oh my.... I would've just had Dell replace / fix...

Behind it should be double side tape, therefore you have to remove it then apply again. I can fix it but not recommend cuz you will void warranty if you break something . so i would call Dell have them replace that front bazel. NOt a big deal tho.

Haha... I think watching a semi run it over like roadkill is a little over the top...

Anyways, yeah. The interior rim, left of the screen (silver part) has done that once. But after snapping it back into place, it hasn't happened since. However, what seems considerably loose is the black plastic area surrounding the webcam. But if I don't fiddle around with that area too much, it doesn't come off...it is just quite loose.

But one thing that annoys me is the small brushed aluminum portion left of the "XPS" logo near the AC Power Supply and the Two USB Ports. For my notebook, that part has a considerable amount of wiggle and I'm afraid it might come off soon. Hopefully it won't, but everytime I take out and put in a thumbdrive or any other USB device, it seems to make the problem worse...

HaHA...yes..I say that alot..but I would never actually do it....

If you are having these problems with the AC Power Supply & the USB Ports..Why don't you just call Dell and have them fix it?

I mean, if you have a warranty ~that is what it's for a situation like this..make good use of it.
