Well, just got the 1530 from DHL and I must say - IT IS EXCELLENT!

Dell must have really tried to get everything right with this system learning from their 1330 mistakes.

    1) This system is SOLID. As good or better than my M1710 (which is a tank). No creaks, rattles, dents. I am VERY impressed :) No hinge problems, gaps. SOLID!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2) The CCFL WXGA display is crisp and clear. Viewing angles could be better, but I am not complaining. I actually think this res is perfect on this system!

First impression is a quadruple thumbs up! Coming off a 3 system fiasco with the 1330 I am shocked that this system is everything the 1330 should have been.

I'll take any questions and I am going to write a review (soon, hopefully)....

Congratulations! Good to know you got what you wanted!

    Here are some questions:

    1. Does the 9-cell battery stick out like it does in M1330?
    2. What is the average battery life with 6-cell and 9-cell battery?
    3. Did Dell include a sleeve like it does for M1330?
    4. In your opinion do you find it portable?

Awesome, glad to hear it got to you eventually. Pictures and more thoughts after you've had more time with it would be great!

Ahh nice, have some questions for you =)

1, Does the 1530 fans go alot? or are they deadquiet when you dont push the computer?

2, Can you check which temperatures your cpu and gpu has at idle-mode and at full-blast mode?

3, Does it have any cpu-whine like 1330 had?

4, Can you test headphones on this and check if there is any weird noises?

Thanx for all the answers you can give me.

    Here goes:

9 cell sticks out somewhat, not the same but similar to the 1330.

    No whine

Haven't got to test battery life yet

    No headphone jack noise

comes with a sleeve like the 1330

Fans are quiet, but system is running a little warm

Samsung screen, btw. Teac slot-load DVD drive.....

---- I am gonna do a review and will have some better info for ya......

No problem! Still am surprised about the build quality. I guess Dell finally got the heads out of their a$$ and is building some great machines :)

sleey0, how thick is the laptop at the back with the 9-cell battery inserted?

So I can take some measurements to see if it fits in my backpack :D

That is the only think I don't really like, but if it's not that thick I can live with it ;). As it does raise the laptop some witch seems a bit more comfortable.

    It looks really great!!

9 cell adds ~ 3/4 inch to the bottom. It does not stick out from the back any further than the 9 cell (like in the 1330).

Good to hear that DELL has finally managed to iron out the build quality issues. But unfortunately it took them several months, many unsatisfied m1330 customers and a load of returned products to realize it !

Good job with pics & comments, how about some benchmarks (especially the gfx card)? ;)

Looking through the box and found that Dell was gracious enough to send me 2 remotes and 2 sets of creative earbuds.

    Silly Dell......

for those of you that just got the 1530, did it have a fingerprint reader?
when I ordered it I assumed it wasn't offered with a finger print reader since there was no option on dell.com to add or remove it like on the m1330. but then later when I was looking at all the images of the 1530 it shows that it has a finger print reader? any info regarding this?

The laptop is slightly warm during normal use (ie browsing, using MS Word, etc).

During 3d mark 05 it got a little bit warm.....

My first question would be what router do you have and does it have enough throughput/bandwith?

I haven't really messed with streaming content over my network.

Also, do you have it plugged in while watching or are you on battery?

Also, here's a question: exactly what kind of RAM do you have in your m1530? Does it come from Dell?
