    Hi.

I have an XPS M1530, 18 months old, and I am very happy with it.

Over the past few weeks I have noticed a problem with the display, any white parts of the screen image show as red or turquoise colour heavily lined, or black text may have a red halo. I can easily correct this by changing the angle of tilt of the screen.

It seems to me that it is most likely a loose flex cable inside, has anybody experienced this?

I work abroad and will next visit the UK for a couple of days in September, so the warranty (I got 4 years UK onsite) is difficult for me to use.

Any comments or suggestions much appreciated..

    Thanks, Dave..

Since it's correctable by adjusting the angle of the screen, then yes, I'd say it's either the flex cable, or the screen itself. Just check to make sure that the warranty you have isn't covered in the US - some of them are "International" if you read the fine print, apparently (or rumour has it anyway, no personal experience here). There's no harm in calling Dell USA anyway and seeing if they'll fix it anyway.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I think that reseating the display cable might be the solution, but as the the laptop is still useable at the moment I will see if it lasts till I return to the UK for long enough to get Dell support.

The only tools I have here are a Swiss army knife, and a bottle opener!

Aaaah, a true man, not a single step out of his house without a trusty bottle opener! :D

Anyway, it's still worth calling Dell US as was suggested, and ask about possible solution, or if that doesn't help, then speak to UK tech person and ask him if they can arrange something for you in USA. UK staff can be contacted via online chat if you don't feel like paying international call rates.
