    XPS M1530 Compatible Blu-Ray Drive?

    Hey there I was woundering if its possible to upgrade to Blu-Ray with an Aftermarket Blu-Ray Drive or a "replacement" from Dell as they supply it for the M1530...

    Unfortunately it cannot be upgraded. You would need to use an external one.

    Apparently it is the design of the laptop that makes it non-upgradeable. It could be because it is slot loading instead of tray-loading because I have replaced those in laptops before.

    You can purchase an internal drive, which would require you opening up the notebook and replacing the drive yourself.
    Not sure where to purchase though.

    just chat with dell sales/parts, or scoure eBay... but make sure u get the right part.... believe the chasis only allows a smaller drive(not those typical bluray big internal drives)..... and i would recommend going to dell for original parts, because u have to fit the hole correctly

    In fact you can swap out the DVD drive for a Blu Ray one, though yes, it would require you ordering the Blu Ray internal drive from Dell designed for the M1530 and having to open up your laptop yourself or get a technician.
