In BIOS REV A12, I have USB Storage Device in #1 Boot Sequence slot, USB Emulation ENABLED, Module Bay OFF (the laptop internal DVD unit is removed, btw, broken).

But, the machine still starts up normally with Win 7 and does not boot from the Windows 7 installation disk I have in a Samsung optical drive plugged into one of the laptop's USB ports on the left.

I see no more options left to install a new Windows 7 from DVD. Any suggestions on how I can install/reformat in some other way, or to do something in BIOS to make the ext. DVD drive recognized as #1 boot?

What if you enter the boot menu and specifically tell it to boot from the drive?

You could also try making a bootable flash drive with the W7 image.

It's not being seen in BIOS. Making a bootable USB Flash Drive is what I will do. Thanks.
