Hey,
So I have an XPS M1530 that's about three years old. A couple weeks ago the screen went dead but I could still see a faint image of what was running with a flashlight. If I shut the lid and opened it or turned down the brightness the screen would pop on for about 10 seconds, with a reddish hue and the bezel near the power button would make a squeal.
I figured this was definitely the inverter board going out so I ordered a new one and popped it in today and nothing changed. The squeal is gone I think (although the screen only stays on for about a second so I cant really tell). This leads me to believe the CCFL (backlight) in the LCD has gone bad. I'm ready to order another since they are about $10 but have no idea how to replace them. I've looked all over online but only find guides for replacing the whole LCD panel. Could anyone provide a link to a guide on how to install a new CCFL backlight in the XPS? Thanks.

Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
I think your only hope is to replace the whole LCD.

Unlikely, unless the XPS LCD is somehow different than other laptop LCDS. There are a number of guides to replacing the CCFL in other laptops, instructables has a decent one, but I'm having a hard time following the steps and this is one of the harder/more sensitive repairs on a laptop.
How to Replace Your Laptop's Backlight
Mainly I'm having a hard time finding good pictures on how to disassemble the LCD panel and get to the backlight and putting everything back together without breaking one of the components.
If anyone could point me to good pictures of how to take apart the LCD panel and solder in the new backlight that would be awesome.
