Everytime i have my AC Adapter plugged in when i turn on my laptop, a black screen shows up (in DOS) and says that the AC Adapter is unknown and is not recognized or something is wrong with it, and there are 3 options, F1 to continue to start windows, F2 to do something and F5 to run on board diagnostics or something like that, the entire message is alot longer but that is all i can recall from that page.
However, the battery charges normally, and in windows, the battery icon shows as PLUGGED IN with AC Adapter when i have it plugged in and when i unplug it, it shows battery, which is normal.
My question is should i call up Dell or should i just ignore the problem? Or is there anyone know what is the problem and can help me.
Thanks alot

thats not new.. lots of people have had this problem.. Some replaced the adapter.. some just pressed F1 and continued... Some removed the battery and put it back in and then did not see this issue...
But most of the time, it was random or in my case as I noticed, everytime I removed the battery n put it back in...
But if you want more (the way I managed to "fix" this issue) > http://forum.notebookreview.com/showpost.php?p=3768852&postcount=40

One option is to call Dell tech support and see what they say.. I don't know if there is any new fix or solution they are giving out to people for this issue. -

But for me, I did what the Dell XPS Tech Support asked me to do (linked in my prev post) and since then I have not had this issue... But I do remember from that other thread, that it did not work for some others.. anyways.. -
I have only had mine a week and this happened to me once and it hasn't happened again so far. If everything is working fine besides getting that message, one option is to just turn off the warning in the bios and forget about it.

I got my 1530 in August and it started the adapter error after the A09 update. I have visited forums to find the best solution. However let me say that I noticed that when the battery is not fully charged, I do not get the adapter message. Before shutdown I unpulg the powersupply. This may not be a fix, but it works for me.
MY HISTORY WITH DELL LAPTOPS
In the past I've had Dell Adapter Problems. I was hoping they had this solve when I bought the M1530.
I've had an 8500 for about 5 years. In the first year I had to get a power supply of which was replaced by dell. The Adapter issue started after I updated the BIOS 2 yrs later. I have gone through the 65W vs 90W and the A01 vs A02 Power Supply issues without positive result. The problem with the 8500 may be Mother Board related now because to charge the battery, the power connector has to be inserted and have tension on it. However, it has been working fine this way for almost 2 yrs. I sure hope this doesn't happen to the M1530. -
Like I said there is an option to turn off this warning in the Bios so if you aren't having any issues besides this warning just turn it off. Seems easier than messing around with batteries and unplugging before you shut down and all this other crap.

yeah, I hit f3 months ago...

Hmm, i was wonderig if Dell will give me another AC Adapter...
-
I forgot to mention that I did the F3 thing with the 8500. However, sometimes it would start up in sort of an undetected low performance mode. I say sort of because I monitored the processor speed to find out.
So my main point is I hope this doesn't happen to the M1530. Time will tell. -

I have a pretty funny story. I just plugged in my AC adapter this morning and fired up my 1530 and got that message for the second time since I have had this thing and I just pressed F1 and continued. I came to this thread to mention it and read your post above about the 700m adapter giving you the warning also and I was thinking that it should give you the warning with that adapter because it is a smaller adapter and is the whole reason for the warning to keep people from accidentally plugging into the lower power adapter. I have a 700m also so I go to grab my 700m adapter to double check the output on it and I realize it was the one I was using. I had accidentally plugged my 1530 into my 700m adapter so the warning was actually doing its job but I dismissed it thinking it was a false alarm. So anyway you should get the alarm with the 700m adapter so the fact that you get the warning with both doesn't really rule out your 1530 adapter.
