    Hi everyone,

I thought I'd like to share this useful fix, especially for older XPS M1210 owners.
My friend's 3 yrs old XPS M1210 monitor backlight went off yesterday but we could still see everything displayed correctly.

The fix was updating his BIOS to A08 then (after fiddling for a bit) setting monitor brightness both under AC and battery to 2, disabling the monitor expand feature OFF (for displaying lower resolution), and setting the media LED off.

We then rebooted the machine, and it's working nicely now.

I guess there might be some kind of conflict between the media LED and monitor backlight after 3 years of use. So before any of you start opening up your M1210, pulling out and reattaching the monitor connection (I saw one thread suggesting that), check your BIOS settings.

    Best of luck!
