I have upgraded my dell xps M1210 last night, basically replacing T2300 1.6 GHz with T7400 2.16GHz. Every time I start up the machine, I was getting the following warning-ish message -

    ***Processor Microcode Update Failure***
The revision of processor in the system is not supported.

Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the Setup Utility

If I press F1, Windows Vista was loaded fine and from the system I can see the correct information (Processor name, speed) about the new CPU. I believe the modern operation systems are able to soft-load the required microcode for the processor after F1 was selected. However I would like resolve the annoying message.

I have checked the Dell support site for the latest BIOS which is A08 and I have already flashed this version on my laptop last year. I have noticed that A07 has some critical microcode updates from Intel. I have tried to back flash the BIOS to A07 from A08 but I was getting the following error message : "This BIOS does not support the level of hardware in this system". What does this mean?

Any idea how I can resolve the Microcode update failure? And is it possible to force a BIOS update? Any advice would be appreciated.
