Hi all,
Just wanted to give this info for M1210 owners out there because I found it pretty interesting.
I recently changed my M1210's thermal assembly, new motherboard (due to failed Go7400), and the new one I obtained to replace it was a new revision, A02... the old one I removed is A00, so it seems there have been two design changes to the heatsink since my computer was assembled.
I haven't been able to identify any other differences yet, but one obvious difference is that it uses a different heatpipe.
The next interesting thing is that the replacement motherboard carries a new revision of the Go 7400 chip A03 (failed chip was A02). I'm guessing this is a new chip revision with the solder pad problem fixed:
My idle temperatures with the A02 revision heatsink are Core 1: 35 C, Core 2: 36 C
And Go 7400 chip: 55 C
If you read this, what is the revision of your heatsink?? (can be seen easily by palm rest removal) And also the Go 7400 revision? (check using GPU-Z).
The new temperatures seem to be good, so if you're having overheating problems on your M1210, you should buy the A02 heatsink and swap them. It is a cheap part, I only paid £4.95 for my one.
Thanks

thats really cool man. great pics.
i had that problem on the first one untill it caught on fire lol then they sent me a replacement -
Puppet,
Very useful post, thank you.
My 7400 revision is 03.
My temps are horrible. I see it on idle going from 25 to 50 CPU, 41 to 60 GPU.
Playing DVD makes it 79/79.
I am about to do a copper mod same as described for m1330 and swap my T2400 for T7200. When I open m1201, I'll see what revision of the heatsink is there. I see A02 being sold on ebay for $14.99.
XPS M1210 A02 heatsink and Go 7400 interesting info...
