    Hello,

    I have the i7, non-touch, 16GB and PM951 SSD system.
A month ago I installed a clean windows 10. I made simple benchmarks for the SSD to make sure it's working ok.
I used 2 tools for the benchmark, Samsung Magician and Crystal Disk.
About 10 days ago I installed the Windows Redstone update and today I made a new benchmarks.
Crystal Benchmarks was very close to the old one.
Samsung Magician shows a significant decrease in Sequential Read. I tried running the test couple of times and restarted the laptop and still have the same issue.

Here are new and old benchmarks in a comparison

Here are the old (very similar to the new) Crystal Benchmarks

Can someone explain what's wrong with the laptop!?

Thanks a lot in advance! :D

I think it's odd that crystal mark doesn't show a drop while magician does. Typically magician seems to have over inflated numbers. I don't know sadly what could be causing it, are you running in AHCI or RAID mode? You could always try wiping free space with ccleaner, but that adds wear to your SSD...

I'm running AHCI mode. I have 51% free space in partition C and 34% in partition D.

Yes.. Without it i get BSoD every few hours. It only stabilize after installing it. I tried it many times.
After installing Redstone update the BSoD came back and kept appearing every few hours till i re installed the Samsung driver.

Strange, I was going to suggest reinstalling the samsung nvme driver after the update. Have you tried benching with AS-SSD?

I just did it now, but I don't have previous benchmarks from the same tools to compare it with. Please have a look and tell me what do you think.

They show up for me, everything looks fine with them. My guess is something is wrong with samsung magician if both crystal and asssd show the same thing. I wouldn't worry about it.

    Thanks a lot.
The pictures still don't show in the website unless I opened them in a new tab. :-s
I started thinking so, that the problem is with the magician tool. I will try different tests later

My 950 Pro reaches far higher write values (2.x GB). Maybe your Windows write cache is switched off.

    Windows Write caching is enabled.
    Windows write cache .jpg

I have the PM951, I think the 950 pro is a faster SSD.
I feel that the laptop is a little bit less faster since installing the Redstone update. I'm thinking of installing a clean windows soon and test the different.

Just checked - 1.9 GB read, 1.5 GB write while doing different things in the background. I had seen 2.x before, though. And the 951 is not slower than the 950.

What tool do you use to test your SSD?
What do you think is the problem with my system?

AS SSD, obviously. Your screenshot shows that you did not istall all drivers, so that takes me out of further support.

You need to rethink that statement. A 950 pro is much faster than a PM951. Perhaps you are thinking of a SM951 which is closer to a 950 pro but still not as fast.

I am excited for the new 960 stuff. I don't see the value in getting the 960 pro over the 960 evo though (unless you can swing 2TB, lol)...

You are right. I wasn't aware that the 'PM' version is - although NVME - that much slower. Good for me, bought the right one :)
