My laptop died over here in Iraq, suddenly and violently so I have to replace the motherboard/video card - I had the dual 2.3 gHz CPU and 7950 video card. A year and a half later the 1730 has come out with a dual 2.8 and dual 8800 GeForce video cards.

My question is simple - can I replace the old motherboard/video card from the 1710 with a top of the line motherboard/dual video card from the 1730?

I'll be back in the States Christmas Eve for a few weeks to get it fixed or buy a new laptop if repairs cost too much.

    Thanks for your help.
