    I have to buy a new router. My wrt600n is about on it's last leg. I have to reset it every night. I have been looking at the new e3500 from linksys. anyone have any other ideas?
    Thanks

    Depends. Do you need both 2.4 and 5GHz, and if so do you need to use them simultaneously? Do you stream media, or have a network server? Do you need gigabit ports?

    If you just use it to connect to the internet, I would stick with something basic and save the cash.

    Ok total noob question but What is MAC filtering? my wife has a mac I don't know if I would want to filter her out ;) lol I have it narrowed down to the linksys e4200 or the NETGEAR WNDR3700-100NAS 802.11a/b/g/n Rangemax 2.4/5GHz Simultaneous N600 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Router/ USB port

    I have always owned a linksys but the netgear is much cheaper. can anyone explain the differences?
    Thanks
    Woody

    MAC = Media Access Control

    Every network adapter has one and it's address is unique so all other computers/networks know who it is. IP address tells other computers/networks where it is.

    Been running WNDR3700 since I got the L701x and it has been perfect. no problems. that's with internet tv, Two laptops, and XBox 360. bit pricey but worth it.

    Cisco consumer routers just run too hot these days. I switched to netgear and am quite happy so far.

    Do you constantly check your router's temp because of problems or something?

    My e4200 feels a little warm to the touch, but then again I have two laptops, 1 desktop, 1 ps3, 1 xbox 360, 2 iphones, 1 wireless television streaming apps, 1 wireless printer, and an attached NAS that all connect to the e4200, alot of them at the same time. Considering the constant bandwidth being utilized through internet access as well as network streaming of music and video between devices, I would expect it to run above room temp. It does all of this while still delivering full speeds to each device without a single hiccup.
