    I'd post this in the owner's lounge but I can't find one (yes, I did a search :D )

Does the XPS 17 (in particular the new Sandy Bridge one) have any known issues like static-y audio through the headphone jack, or heating issues or whatever?

I bought and returned an M15x because of the terrible audio through the headset jack, and later learned that's a common problem (feels like it's inevitable, but maybe not...)

Been looking at other things since then, like HP's Envy 17, but it just occurred to me to look at the XPS 17.

I really, really like that the hard drives and optical drive are easy to replace (in fact that's why I won't consider the XPS 15). And the specs are just what I want except I'd rather have at least a GTX 460 with 192 cores rather than the 144 core part in here....but that's not terrible,so... (And I'd really rather have Nvidia than AMD, which this has!)

Well I don't think any sandy bridge xps 17s have actually been delivered yet (mine is due on the 23rd), so no one knows about any problems yet. But it's almost the same laptop as the first generation one (L701x).

As far as I know, there aren't really any problems with the L701X (i've been doing my research), except maybe the screen quality. Some people say the viewing angles are bad, but it doesn't bother me since I tend not to use my laptop from above  And other people have said the display is fine anyway.

The gt 555m is slightly better then the 445m if that helps. It should play most games on max settings, excluding maybe crisis/metro 2033...

And yeah I don't think there's an L702X thread yet. Maybe i'll make one when I get mine...

    Hope this helps :)
