    This is highly annoying.

I have 2 exact the same XPS 17's with the same problem.
If I press somewhere in the neighborhood of the eject button on the bezel of the optical drive the tray ejects. So not only if I press the eject button, but also cm's around the eject button.
In practice when if I lift up the laptop to move it the tray ejects.
I have changed the dvd drive for a bluray drive but the problem stays. I think the bezel is not good and the eject button in the bezel is not good aligned with the push button on the optical drive(s)

Anyone else has this problem too?

It's definitely a design flaw. Why Dell went back to tray loading optical drives on their latest models I will never know.

I have the blue ray reader and I can press either side of eject with no issues? You must just be unlucky, my drive is a Optiarc DVDRWBD BC-5540H

Well the laptop came with a dvd drive, but now I have changed to a BR burner. And with both (different) drives I have this problem. And also with my second XPS 17.

I don't think the drive is the problem, but the bezel which covers it.

Must be your bezel for some reason, mine is fine just like morfmedia's. I even hit it pretty aggressively in several spots with no issues too.

Well I think so too. If many people had this problem more people would have respond to this thread.
I will make a call with Dell, I hope they will send me new bezels instead of "collect and return" my laptops.

Problem solved: Dell sent me a whole new drive with bezel. I only swapped the bezel and now no unwanted tray ejects anymore.

Good to hear you got your issues sorted out. At least it was an easy fix.

I requested a new bezel immediately when I received my L702X because it was clearly bent, one of the 'legs' was almost broken.
