Does anyone know what is the port I've highlighted on photo?

Please share, do you use that port or mPCIe and what for?
Have anyone tried SODIMM DDR3-1600 at XPS17 with proper CPU (i7-27xx or above)?

The port you pointed out is the Optical Drive Bay, you could use a third HDD/SSD in there if you want. (you will have to buy a HDD Caddy tho)

And there is no problem at all using SODIMM DDR3-1600MHz, even 2133MHz will work out of the box.
However, you will need to use a modded BIOS in order to not be locked at 1333MHz.
