My new laptop is 5 weeks old but I'm having major problems with my wireless connection. I'm only getting around 1.3Mbps on a Virgin 50Mbps fibre optic line. My other Dell Studio notebook averages 25Mbps when sitting beside my XPS! I spent 2 hours on the phone with Dell technical help with no solution. I had an engineer visit today and fit a new Intel Cetrino Advanced N 6230 wireless card (old one was the N 1030) , but still no difference. He told me to look on these forums as he had never seen this problem before! I use this laptop for DJ'ing so downloading music on it is what I bought it for. It's impossible at the moment. I'm using the Virgin Media Superhub, could there be a conflict between it and the Intel Wireless cards? Someone please help!!!!!

What does the connection speed look like in task manager.
Have you tried upgrading drivers?
Running in high performance mode? -
I have the intel 6230 and the superhub, I've given up on the wireless altogether, can only use lan cable when gaming. Only solution I found for a stay, stable wireless connection is to switch off the n mode on the wireless card - not a solution but it works til I find a cure.
Maybe its a super hub problem, wouldn't be the first -
Drivers are all up to date. The wireless network connection in task manager is around 1%. How do I run in high performance mode?
-
GO down to where ur battery is at and click on it and click on high performance mode. I dont think that would have anything to do with the wifi but u could try it
-
Click on the battery on the right and change it to high performance, also see in advanced options if the wireless adapter settings is set to maximum performance.
-
No difference I'm afraid
-
the 6230 with bluetooth seems to have a few issues as they use the same frequencies, is it possible to disable bluetooth at all?
-
Still the same

I've worked it out but I'm not too sure how to explain it so hold tight...
I went into my superhub settings and changed the wireless band settings to 5GHz and hey presto 50Mbps download speeds on my 2 laptops. Only problem now is the wife's and kids laptops won't connect to the internet now. They're not compatible with those settings! My brother's a network engineer and he says he can set up 2 access points to suit both bands -
5GHz is for dual-band wireless-N only. Chances are your other computers are either 2.4GHz N or wireless G, which is also 2.4GHz.
There have been reported issues with the 6230 and bluetooth when running both on 2.4GHz. I don't have any bluetooth devices I am using so I can't say if I have those issues too. That, and I have an N-router set to 5GHz for this computer -
I'm guessing the intel 6300 card should work on the xps l702x, does having it mean no bluetooth? -
-
I guess the original problem is solved but this might help anyone else who has a similar problem.
I had a similar problem, my mac mini sitting next to my L702x had a way faster connection off WiFi. When I pinged google it was dropping packets, sometimes the response took 2 seconds sometimes there was no response. Was considering getting a new WiFi card. However just now I tried enabling the 'Intel MyWiFi' which basically makes your computer into a hotspot.
And now everything works fine. It's strange but not too inclined to investigate right now, just glad it all works. -
i also have the bloody superhub and the l702x and 6230 n, i had problems whit the speed. my iPhone was getting 49Mbps and my laptop around 3.
I have factory reset the router and in device manager i have disabled the Bluetooth and works like a charm. -
Glad that's sorted it
