For some reason, all of the sudden, my speaker will not work in surround anymore. The sub-woofer works, but the audio sounds "shallow" and is completely impractical. I tried to fidget with the audio software, but to no avail. I am deathly scared of driver updates(also spiders and suspicious looking dudes with knives) as the past few(all) times they brick my computer, and made a $800 computer a useless brick. I tried restarting and using a different account, neither of which worked. Headphones work perfectly though(Technics RP-HT116).

Try opening up your Dell Support Center software. Go to Multimedia. Run a test on your sound card.
