For some reason, if I apply a slight amount of pressure to the lower right hand side of the laptop, slightly above the intel sticker, the laptop just completely shuts off instantly. Am I the only one experiencing this problem? What could be causing it?

That's the position of the harddisk...

The harddisk is right below the optical drive? I called Dell and they claimed it to be a motherboard problem, but I am not convinced at all. Could this possibly be due to a loose connection or something?

Oh my bad, the hard disk should be on the other side...The one you mentioned holds my travel remote.

Just get a motherboard replacement to see what will happen.

I don't want to get it replaced with probably a refurbished motherboard for no good reason. I would appreciate if someone could help me figure out the root of the problem first.
