    XPS 1645 - HOT or NOT???

    Hi,

    I need some help about what temp´s are "normal" for the Dell Studio XPS 1645.
    Below my temp (taken from SIW):

    that is quite cold, considering that you have an i7 and i have an i5 with the same temps.

    If those are the temperatures while idling, your system is average. I have an 820QM that is similar, although a bit cooler as a result of changing the stock thermal paste.

    You should not expect your idle temperatures of a 720QM to be below around 45C unless your ambient temperature is low and/or you've made changes to how the system is cooled (i.e. thermal paste, external fan, etc.)

    In short, those temperatures are exactly what you can expect from the system you bought. If you're hoping for cooler, then you should invest in another system with a less powerful processor or better heater dissipation.
