Does it fit in a standard 15" laptop bag? Does it feel uncomfortable while carrying around the bag on your back with the battery not flushed with the bottom?

No, it will not. You will need at least a 15.6" bag for the 16xx to fit comfortably in & to work with the 9 cell.

I purchased a Belkin Messenger bag from Dell and it is for up to 15.6" lappys works jsut fine with both my 9 & 6 cell batt's.

I also have a Synergy by Swiss Gear back pack 15.4" size, and that is a very, tight fit. I need to use a good Neoprene sleeve to further protect my lappy if I decide to use the b.pack.

So you really need to look at 15.6" + :)

I actually use a Jansport backpack, which has a slot made for 17" laptops. I use the 9-cell, and it is theoretically pressed against my back when I wear the backpack. However, I guess the padding on the backpack is such that I don't feel the uneven surface against me so it's never been an issue.

This is what I use no until my Oakley pack comes (should be here tomorrow morning!). It used to be classified as a 15.4 messenger pack but has fit my brothers 15.6 and my XPS in it nice and snug. I even have space to spare in the main compartment.

I had a hard time finding a bag for my Studio XPS. That extra .4" over a 15.6" made a difference, evidently.

I am using a (rather unglamorous) Sumdex Passage PON-301 Black. The handle, though, is, I think, the best I have ever seen. The bag itself weighs a little over a pound and I think the padding is adequate.

I actually prefer (and first bought) the Samsonite Xenon bags (and I had been using the 13.3" version in that series for my old M1330), but the 15.4" shock-absorber bag in that series is too narrow for the Studio XPS 16, so I had to get the Sumdex; it seems serviceable, though, and does hold plenty of accessories and peripherals in front and has a separate outer pocket that I use for the power supply/cord and my phone USB cable.

    Hi Cin,

I'm getting the XPS 16 with the 15.6" screen and 9-cell. Would this fit in the Synergy backpack? I already have one, so I was wondering what you meant by a "very tight fit." Like does it seem like it would rip eventually or something? I don't mind if it's pretty tight as long as it works. Thanks.

    Nice Messenger :)

Yes, it will fit. But you should use a good Neoprene sleeve with it (to help further protect it).

I will post up a picture when I get home tonight to show you what I mean.

I think that may work. I have a Belkin sleeve similar I got on a Dell Daily Deal that, believe it or not the 9Cell battery fits in. I can post up picture later this evening, also if you want. :)

    LoL...grats!!!

Interested in seeing that pic Cin, as I am looking for a sleeve for my XPS 16 as well.

    Thanks!
