So ive had my laptop for a few weeks now and im loving every min of it after my reinstall of the OS and what not, and im pretty sure i got all the drivers, a dell rep also said i was good too

so yesterday i actually used my headphones with the laptop for the first time, the 1st port (the one closest to me if im using the laptop) works absolutely perfectly, when plugged in the speakers mute and sound plays through the headphones just fine

its the 2nd jack(farest one) that seems to be the problem, no matter what i plug in, or in what configuration i plug in (using port 1 also), i get no sound out of this port and the speakers just play normally

so did i like miss a driver maybe? or is it something else

    thanks

right click the sound icon in taskbar and select playback devices. then change the speakers to independent.
