Will DELL maybe update the current ATI Mobility 3650 inside Studio XPS 16 with something better (and newer, the 3xxx series are really old), like ATI Mobility 4670 in the future?

very unlikely that will happen since it will require to update the whole motherboard.

s more likely dell will go back to nvidia gpus.
its impossible to sell high end computers with atis.
apple has tried and failed with ati cards in 2006, there is no need to repeat the history all over again.

Wait, is the GPU in the Studio soldered to the motherboard ? In the past Inspiron series it used to be quite common to swap GPUs around.

Given the high volume of Dell sales I would expect some crazy geek to open up his laptop and have a look inside. I would anyway just to know if I can upgrade or not.

Overall so far the temps have gone down 5-10c. Best improvement was on the GFX as it was the worst to have that goo all over it.
