    Hello,

I hope you can help me. Here is the problem:

I left the laptop powered on in the morning with closed screen (previously removed the option to go in stand-by with closed lid), so I left it running without having logged on in windows.
When I came back in the evening, I opened the screen but it would'n light up. It was still running because I could hear the fans. I pressed the power button to go in stand-by and then power on again but still black screen.
I had to hold the power button to shut down completely and then the screen lighted up.

This happened before but I could light it up with the stand-by/power on trick.

Why is this happening? Can I fix it?

    I'm running Win XP SP3

Its crashed at some point in the standby/sleep process (sometimes a video driver issue etc). The only way is to do what you did before and hold down the power button to forcibly shut it down.
