I've noticed that there's a constant buzzing noise (ONLY) when I plug in my earphones, or a set of speakers, in the headphone jack in the front of the laptop. The buzzing volume doesn't go up when you adjust the volume so you can usually ignore it with loud music but it gets very annoying sometimes.

Truth be told, I dont even know if this is actually a problem. It could just be me being too easily annoyed. D:

From this thread (not sure if this is the same problem)
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=206327&highlight=static
It's either a problem with the power adapter or some kind of design fault (interference from the touchpad)

I'm gonna give DELL a call tomorrow but I'd like to know if anyone else has this same problem.

    THX

well after using my headphones with dell xps m1530 it was fine but after a while i found that i am having problems with the sound in my head phone after that i found it is a problem in the head phone jack!!! so i just changed the headphone.
so from this stupid story we learn that:
1-it maybe a problem with the headphone not the laptop
2-if the headphone is fine then the problem is with ur laptop and not all xps m1530
3-it maybe a problem in the drivers although headphones doesn't need drivers download to work
so in case of point (2) then all u have to do that if u are still in the warranty time then thats ok they might even gve u a new one.
so before you call them try another headphone u are sure it is fine and download the latest audio codecs and video (although it wont help much)
    THATS ALL FOLKS!! :D

A guy at work had this problem. He noticed that the plastic part of the jack was cracked. He called Dell and they came over and replaced some part and then it was working fine.

I have a similar issue. Only when using AC power and a mini stereo cable to the stereo. Does not impact headphones for some reason.

I run the headphone out to my stereo for playing music and karaoke... I experienced the same constant buzz but only when on AC power. The buzz was extremely annoying especially at higher volumes.

What solved it for me was replacing the three-prong power supply with the DA90PS0-00 model two prong power supply Dell PN XD757. I had several different power supplies available from work, tested them until I found one that worked and then convinced Dell to replace my original power supply with the model that worked for me...

It is because of a ground loop problem. I got around it using a creative sound card with optical out. (Creative ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Notebook).
