Hello, so I have had my 1530 with a 8600GT for almost a year now. And I notice that from time to time, some games have this nasty shuttering problem, games like the new Prototype, PES 2009, and Spiderman: Web of Shadows. I know that the laptop can handle the games b/c when it wants to run good, it runs silky smooth, however, that only lasts for about 2 minutes before it starts to skip like a really fast powerpoint doc. (And it cycles through good and bad every 2 minutes or so) So, anyone knows how to fix this or have this same problem? Thanks a bunch.

Sounds like it might be a temperature issue. Maybe it's getting hot and then throttling the cpu/gpu speeds. Once the temps come down a bit it'll clock them back up until it gets hot, then throttle them down again, etc. etc.

What kind of temps are you getting?

Sounds like an overheating issue if it's cycling up and down like that.
If I were you I'd download hwmonitor, check what sort of temps I was getting whilst gaming, and then go from there.

Considering you've had it for nearly a year, chances are there's plenty of dust built up in the fan / heatsink assembly.
Giving it a good clean-out with some compresssed air would probably sort your problems.

Besides compressed air / laptop cooler (Which I ordered for both), is there anything else I can check for? Or any other possibilities for the shuttering problems? Thanks

Updating the 8600GT drivers is one thing.
