My title pretty much explains it. I push the on button and nothing happens. I have done this both with it connected to the AC adapter and without it. No charging indicator light comes on. no sign of any power whatsoever. Mybrother has the same computer i do, so i swapped batteries with him and nothin. no power no nothing. I also switched harddrives with him, just to see what would happen and nothing. still no boot up, no power.

One thing i di notice is that my power button is a little stiff, but that has always been the case since i got it.

If anyone has any suggestion please let me know.

You think i might just need to open it up and makes sure everything is good is good. Hardware or software? any help would rock.

Did you try booting loading media direct to see if it is the button or not?

If you think it's the button not pressing properly. You could just pop off the media control bar and then press the actual circut board buttton, at least then you'd know whether or not if that's the reason.

If you take out the battery, there are three large round screws. Remove those screws and then you can pop out the media control plastic, from there the power button should be completely exposed. Take a look and see what is going on under there. Good luck

I removed the media strip and was able to find the direct power button. Still no power what so ever. When plugged in to the adapted there is not even the smallest sign that ower is runing through the system.\

If any one has any other ideas of what it might be please let me know. really need this fixed.

just in case, any one of a good repair plase to send it off to if i cant fix it?

Could be that your motherboard is fried.

One thing you might try is removing the battery and unplugging from AC. Then take the machine apart, take out the CMOS battery, press the power button for a few seconds, and then leave the computer alone for a minute. Then put the CMOS battery back in and try to start the machine. This resolved a similar (as far as symptoms go) issue with some old Sony Vaio laptops.

Did you try your 1530 without battery while using mains supply?
Did you have any problems before you noticed the powering on issue?
If under warranty call Dell but you can try the above steps, then maybe ebay for a power board if all fails (M1530USB/DC).

Does the indicator light on the adapter stay on after you connect it to the laptop? If it doesn't the mobo's faulty. If the light stays on, then is the battery charging? You can find that out by pressing the charge status button on the battery.. If the battery isn't charging, it could be a issue with the jack on the mobo.. to which the adapter plugs in..

I too have the same problem, but my light on my adapter shuts off. Does this mean it is a faulty motherboard, or an issue with the ac jack board?

My light on my adapter shut off when plugged into my m1330.

I just got it back from Dell and they changed the motherboard, as well as the power supply.

Faulty motherboard... It could be a shorted out jack.. but that's unlikely..
