I checked this morning and Dell is finally showing 64bit drivers for my 1530. Downloaded them and burnt to disk, so guess I'm ready to go.

I have not had any problems so far. Everything seems to be working great. If i run into any problems I will post. Don't understand why Dell is not supporting the 64 bit systems, but maybe this will change.

I don't know why they are not supporting 64 bit m1530 ! They are sending out 64 bits m1530 so they should support it no?

dell is supporting 64 bit now. that is why there are 39 updates on the support site for x64 vista.
If you are going to run x64 with more ram than 4 gb, you definitely need to flash your bios to a11. a09 does not support more than 6 gb.
Also some of the x64 bit drivers on dells site are not the latest drivers for the hardware. I recommend going to intel and getting latest drivers for chipset, wireless card, Turbo cache memory, matrix storage console. go to upek and get latest fingerprint driver, get latest alps driver, (check previous post for info)

Will the 32bit fingerprint program work with 64bit? I tried doing it in an HP laptop and the fingerprint reader isn't compatible with Vx64

I do agree that there are better drivers out there. However Dell's site gives you a one stop shopping, then once your up and running, go to those sites and update your drivers. Just a suggestion, that is what I have done and everything is working great.

I made the leap to 64-bit Ultimate using the Dell provided drivers. The installation went smoothly. I see no reason to hold off if you are on the fence about it.

I have since updated to a few vendor-provided drivers, but the Dell stuff works just fine.
