Well I got Windows 7 Ultimate running excellent on my desktop, so I was now going to turn my attention to my XPS 1530. However, what's the word on drivers, Quickset, and fingerprint reader?
-
Windows 7 requires very few thrid party drivers, out of the box. However, when needed, Vista drivers normally do the trick. Also, Dell already has quite a few Win7 drivers available for download.

Search and you shall be rewarded.
I did mine on the weekend and it was a piece of cake. -

Yep... give it a try. Install Windows 7 and see where you are when the dust settles

my girlfriends xps m1530 has win 7 in it and works great.

All is good except, there is still one device that fails to get picked up. it's called "Base System Device" it has a hardware id of PCI\VEN_1180&DEV_0592&SUBSYS_022E1028&REV_12
Anythoughts?
Thanks -
That is your card reader driver, 7 didn't load it correctly.

I wanted to ask if there is an Official thread for XPS M1530 and Win7 ?

Ok, one last question. I got the Upek (finger scaner) driver installed from their site, but where can you get software to use the scanner?
-
Upek suite should be on Dell's website, I think that is what your referring to.
