I know it missed out on it in the small recent update but Is it likely that the XPS 15 will also get the new thin bezel in it's next update?

I'm asking as I'm trying to decide whether to replace my ancient crappy laptop soon (maybe with an XPS 13) or to wait. A 4k XPS 15 with Skylake (for USB3.1-C) that was a bit smaller in body and weight would be my perfect laptop.

On a related note, I gather Skylake is coming in the second half of this year, does that apply to the mobile quad-core Skylake chips the XPS 15 would use, or will these come later, more like 2016?

skylake full voltage quads, ddr4, usb 3.1 + type-c and nvme ssds are "planned" going to be "mainstream" in second half of 2015. I doubt you'll see any of these till the very end of 2015 at nov/ dec best.

Intel has been known to delay stuff. they might decide sync the releases with windows 10

I want that model too. Very frustrating that I need a replacement now and the infinity XPS 15 isn't near. Damn. Maybe I would get on okay with the 13 but it is a real step down in size for me.

That would certainly be an awesome system. I'd like to see better GPU options as well.

I am also expecting a full refresh of the XPS 15 by late summer or fall, along and when Windows 10 is out.
I am expecting (and hoping) the refreshed specifications to include the latest Intel Skylake CPUs and a true 4K UHD Infinite display, I also expecting it to fully support the "Windows Hello" and "Microsoft Passport" newly announced authentication systems and along with a finger print scanner, I am also expecting it to come with an Intel 3D 1080p Camera tech for face recognition, meaning the display will probably be "infinite" just on left and right bezels, as they will need some space on top for the 3D cameras and sensors. I am also expecting it to have at least two USB Type-C ports, (meaning the regular power plug will not be present anymore), a high-end, high quality precision touchpad and options for the latest high-end NVIDIA GPU. I am also hoping this time Dell will choose a high performance SSD and not a cheap one that get outperformed even from regular HDDs. Infinite Display and Skylake should also noticeable decrease the dimensions and weight of this model as well, while boosting the battery life even more.

Possible XPS 15 coming next month.
Not entirely sure if this sales support on Dell didn't understand what I was talking about. But here's the reply. May as well wait a month for this. Possibly more rumours may better validate this claim.

XPS 15 with infinity won't be here until August at the earliest, I would imagine. Whenever Skylake general availability is. I also expect it'll have the same camera beneath the display like the XPS 13, so I don't know if there'll be any Microsoft Hello support or not. I expect we'll see USB-C... perhaps with the lower SkyLake power consumption, we'll maybe get charging via that too. I'm sure we'll see nVidia 965 or similar.

a dell xps 15 with an infinity display that has a ~14" body and weighs around 3.5 to 4 pounds would be an amazing machine, I really hope they announce something around august or september.

Really enormously fed up waiting for a 15 Inch XPS with Infinity Display. I really need a new 15.6 inch laptop. I may bite the bullet and go for the 13 and pair it with an UltraWide. Hmm.
