Main reason is Windows 8 came out.

yeah it probably has nothing to do with all the problems...

    -display
    -wifi
    -overheating
    -mb
    -cpu/gpu throlleting
    -touchpad
    -etc

The answer must be because Windows 8 came out.

Dells site vacillates between what is available etc... Let me be clear though.. my 'beef' isn't with Dell employees doing their job, what they are told, as I have had MANY (sadly needed) helpful dell rep agents although peppered with some b.s. ....

My beef is with the obvious shot callers that tell reps to say there is no problem or make excuses or send out broken parts to replace broken parts repeatedly, not just a woops case... not just in 2003 or 2007, but for the last 2 years over the 502-702 series and now the 421, 521 series (maybe the 321 series too..I don't know).

didn't mean to demean your fact, just a little caught up, myself, in all that my b.s. experience has been (majority of it) so far as a Dell customer based solely on the hardware/laptop experience.

Thanks, problem 1 (outside the laptop) is that this is the replacement for the 702x (which had issues it couldn't overcome due to design... so I thought amazing! they gave me a xps 521x only to slowly learn from experience the nightmare that was coming and is now here.

I just want something that works properly the first time at this point, I can even understand an issue or two, but I have had a laundry list of issues with the new 521x, and nothing has been fixed although they have tried, credit for that.

I pessimistically look forward to a model that does what it's supposed to so I don't spend literally over 48 hours on the phone with Dell rectifying the issues... I never had problems with Dell before, or HP when I owned that brand... I am just floored though at the groundhog day theatrics that this has become for me.

Not to mention the countless days to be at home for a tech to come out... it really is outrageous. I don't expect perfection but it's ridiculous.

The other issue is I have little to no confidence a replacement will be time well spent based off these two model of machines that in my opinion should never have made it out of the beta testing... I dunno. Very tired of all this though. I feel a bit stupid and crazy for even being tht disgruntled guy on the internet ... but it's hard too because you got genuinely nice/good people trying to help at Dell, it's just they do not have proper solutions at their disposal.
