I noticed that after several hibernation / wake-up cycles, the usual display brightness adjustment doesn't work anymore (Fn+F4, Fn+F5). I can still adjust the brightness using Windows Mobility Center, and rebooting the computer resolves the problem.

Does anyone know why this might be happening? Does anyone also know what is the name of the service associated with the function key adjustments (so that I may try re-starting the service)?

I just had a similar problem. I can adjust brightness/volume etc. with the function keys but the display on the screen doesnt come up. Also the fast access button on the top right dont work when i press them except for the one on the far left. What is the cause of this? and How do i fix this?

Nevermind, problem resolved. I disable Quickset on the startup menu.

I have the same problem. I noticed that when this happens, I can adjust the brightness only one level however many times I press FN+F4 or FN+F5.

That sounds like the exact same thing. I don't think you can adjust the brightness at all with Fn+F4 or Fn+F5 when it happens, though. Even though you do see one level being adjusted in the status window, the actual brightness doesn't change.
