    Hi,

I have just got the laptop and I am having a lot of issues with the graphics card, I cant tell when I am playing games if I am running from the Intel 530 onboard graphics card or the 2GB 960M

Yes, I have gone into the settings and configured the Manage 3D Settings to use High Powered Nvidea Processor as the default settings and also set it manually for each game to run as the Nvidea instead of the Integrated Graphics and I am always running on High Performance mode with the charger connected, I also have the latest Drivers from Windows update

For an example, If I play CS Source I get the exact same FPS for both the Nvidea card and the Integrated, If I set it to open up on one or the other I still get a 90fps in the stress test....

I downloaded Fraps and started Fallout 4 on the lowest settings and I only get around 10-15FPS on both settings when I force to launch on the NVIDEA or Integrated graphics

Another test in CS GO, I get 70FPS if I use NVIDEA or Integrated graphics, this again should be different between the two. I even UNINSTALLED the Nvidea Drivers from Control Panel and started CS GO and I had the same FPS, this proves that its not even using the 960M

I should be seeing a huge difference in performance from the HD530 and the 2GB 960M but I am not.

Ok issue resolved, I uninstalled the NVIDEA drivers which I received from Windows update

I installed the 359.06 Nvidea drivers from the Nvidea website, now its working great...

Everyone needs to be careful as most games still clearly run OK under the HD530 but you are still not using the 960M GFX CARD!

I bet there are lots of people out there not running it under the 960M even when they have configured that setting in the Nvidea options

What sort of fps are you getting on both of those games if you don't mind me asking?

I am tempted by this machine, primarily to play CS GO, DOTA and Fallout.

Fallout 4 was very smooth I was running full resolution with medium GFX and it looked great (much better than my PS4 version), I had the FPS Capped on 60FPS due to having VSync on, I will have to test without it on to get the real FPS but I think its going to be good

CS:GO I had max GFX turned on for mostly all settings and I was getting over the 100fps mark all the time.

Even when I was playing CS GO with the Integrated D530 I was getting 70fps all the time.

How can I tell on which I am running?
I notice that when I play team Forteress 2, the fan will go to 100% and the laptop will become quite warm after around 15 min of gaming. However, the game is still really smooth.. Is this normal? Am I running on the wrong card?

You can enable a setting to put a taskbar item to show what programs are using the gpu when they are active

I know it's been some time, but how hot does your computer get?

My CPU gets up to 94 celsius...just wanted to see if that was normal?

94 is usually too hot for gaming rigs. Ideally you're 80 or below. I'd be concerned if I was running 94 for long periods of time on a daily basis.

I understand that. My question was how hot does it get for other 9550 users when they game?

My GPU would peak at 83C and CPU around 78. This is with gelid repast and replacing the RAM pads. Also -100mv undervolt.

Oh and I'm reading your undervolting guide (thank you!), but had a quick question - will all xps 15's with the 6700HQ be universal in how much they can be underclocked? Or is it different with each machine?

    Hi,
I have the same laptop and am getting some pretty terrible performance. I have done the whole switch the preferred graphics to NVIDIA and on high performance on the battery but still get bad performance. I have installed the latest graphics card from the NVIDIA website and still nothing. I was just wondering how I can check and uninstall the updates from windows.

Thanks and hope you guys can help!

I have a problem. I think that my laptop uses the dedicated graphics card all the time. I got that by using CPU-z and seeing that it reports a steady 405 core speed while it reports no speed for my intergratred graphics card

Also how do can I tell if a game uses the dedidcated or the intergrated graphics card? Someone said about using an app to report it can i have something more specififc? IN the past I could see it cause CPU-z wouldnt report anything about nVdia outside of games and as soon as I would launch it I would get a CPU & memory clock so I ws just forcing it to give me a graph of these values and after 5 mins of gaming I could see the NVdia clocks. Unfortunately it doesnt dot hat anymore

Try using DDU to remove both sets of video drivers then clean installing both again.

I wil try that. Now can you tell me how I can see if a program is using dedicated or intergrated graphics?

Also is there a program that can allow me to record my GPU/CPU clock overtime as I get some algs for no reason from time to time. The laptop is not warm temperature is 50 so I suspect that the dedicated card works, but doesnt render???

Also shall I isntalld rivers form Dell or Nvidia/intel? and finally shall I isntall geforce experience?

The RS3 windows update has a GPU tab in the task manager to show what GPU & Afterburner has graphs that record what's going on.
