Just received my XPS 15 today and I've noticed that the wifi speeds are quite poor.
Running tests on speedtest.net show a download speed around 5 when I'm used to getting around 15 on both a phone and a wired connection. I have the Dell Wireless 1830 with the latest drivers from Dell's site.
    Any fixes?

I don't really want to have to buy a new network card for a brand new laptop, though... :(
It seems like some people have had success contacting dell and asking for a replacement, perhaps I will try that.

Did you try changing the server on speedtest? I tend to get slower result when pinging to another ISP server. i.e., 8mb/s vs 2 mb/s on another ISP server or 70+ mb/s vs 30+ mb/s on another server

Another vote for the Intel card - rock solid and zero problems using BT compared to the origional card. Saved ages of trying different settings, it just works.

I had over 100Mb/s (to local devides) and i think it could even be faster but my old wifi router is the bottleneck.

Where is the thread dedicated to swapping out the wifi cards? From stock to either intel or something else? Thanks

In fact I think Dell should do a warranty replacement. But you must prove the card does not meet the specs or is causing issues. I guess Dell knows, but won't say out loud (have switched to Killer cards), because of what many replacements would cost them. In addition, the DW1830 is suspected to cause interference with fast connections over the USB-C port (docks).

The HW procedure is described in the official Dell service manual. Before you do it, deactivate the card in Device Manager and uninstall wifi and BT drivers, and install new drivers afterwards.

Try a local network file transfer not internet based.

It appears to be an update of the 8260 with just about the same specs.
