There have been multiple threads showing different OC results from various users, thought I would start up a thread where we can get some centralized results from various OCs of the 420m and 435m cards.
This could be of some help to those looking to purchase the i5 or i7 based XPS 15, as a 420m that has a stable OC that puts up similar results to a 435m system can provide similar gaming performance and better battery life if they don't need the quad core (games like BC2, Black Ops, and software like Adobe suite benefit from the quads though, not everyone needs this however).

    I'll toss mine up first!

    nVidia settings:
    GPU clock: 785 mhz
    Memory clock: 960 mhz
    Processor clock: 1570 mhz

Played FO: New Vegas for about an hour.
Monitored GPU & CPU temps via AIDA64 on the Logitech G15 screen while in-game, GPU temps never went above 79 C.

Played for about an hour, and for some strange reason the GPU core dropped voltage from 0.960v to 0.860v after an hour and GPU clock dropped to 202 mhz. It wasn't temp related as temps stayed below 80 C the entire time, and before I repasted the GPU it frequently hit 96 C and the clocks never dropped.

Then I ran 3D Mark 06, settings 1280x1024, no AA, optimal filtering, HLSL VS 3.0, HLSL PS 3.0, no repeat tests.
    3D Mark 06 results:
    8640 3DMarks
    SM 2.0: 3672
    HDR/SM 3.0: 3357
    CPU Score: 3159

    nVidia settings:
    GPU clock: 785 mhz
    Memory clock: 960 mhz
    Processor clock: 1570 mhz

Again here is the direct link, http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r269/loykastj/OCed3dmark.png for hi-res screenshot.

Temps never went above 79 C on the GPU during 3dMark, unfortunately this is a short test and doesn't indicate real world temps on GPU stress.
I'll upload results from BC2 later on, as that game really stresses the i7 quad core and the GPU.

Another note, if anyone posts 3DMark results, post your settings, otherwise your results are meaningless.

    435m settings:
    800/960/1600

FurMark 1.8 for 20 minutes on xtreme burn. 12555 FurMark points.

Max GPU temp 93 C for about a minute then dropped down to and stayed at 88 C for the rest of the test.

Keep in mind my XPS 15 has had the stock thermal paste used by Dell replaced with Coollabs Liquid Ultra, which is an excellent compound for this laptop, it seems the gallium in it does a great job of filling the "grand canyons" in the Dell copper heatsink.
I am also using a Targus 17" Chillmat.
When I tried OC'ing prior to repasting and using a cooling pad, GPU temps would hit 96 C even with a core OC as low as 720 mhz. So, if you're running stock compound and no mat with the 435m, I'm not sure how high you're going to get. The prior posts I've seen by 420m guys show better temps with an OC. They also run at 0.90v, the 435m runs at 0.960v.

Wow thanks for the thread dude.I was gonna buy that tuniq tx2/tx4 for this lappy. But now think that the gallium paste will be better. What say.
Can u tell me how to apply that (method/tips).Do you recommend me to get that Arctic TIM cleaner,i dont know if its worth 7$.
    Cheers!

Is 8640 the highest you can achieve? I think I've seen scores of above 9000 for the 420m card! Is the 435m really better?!

8640 is a dang good score for that GPU/CPU combination at the standard 1280x1024 resolution. The scores you saw were likely at lower resolution as you have to have either a 1080p screen or an external monitor to run that res.

I got 8157 on 3DMark06 at 1280*768 (resolution was limited to this because of the 720p panel) with the GT420m overclocked to GT435m speeds.

I have the registered version of 3dmark, I don't think the freeware version lets you adjust the resolution that much?
    Not sure on that.
Thats why I put in my thread to post what settings people use when they put up results, as without settings the results are meaningless.

that 9kish result I posted in the thermal paste thread was using all default settings for 3dmark06
Edit: hmm maybe I did switch it to x720? I'll rerun later.

I'll run it again later for a better pic. Not even sure why I cropped it so much...was like 3am.
    CPU score so bad :(
