I think that the p8600 and p8700 are the best mobile processors out at the moment, they are quite fast don't use much power. It's all too easy to think all in numbers but the performance jump between 2.4ghz and say 2.8ghz is really not very much (1.16 times the speed). The three megabyte L2 cacheit has isn't exactly scrawny either although it could be bigger. Although the p9000 series are more powerful they also have a high price premium on them so I think it's better to stick with the p8000 series, the larger cache only makes up for a small inprovement in performance anyway

Hi everyone. Can some one tell me whats the best processor available for xps1340 motherboard? I mean the fastest with most cache. Im not worried about battery life or cost I just want to know because Im thinking of upgrading it to fullest! Im able to overclock my processor to 2.7 and my gpu a lil too, but i rather get a better processor and overclock it some more to make this the ultimate 13 inch laptop :)

My curent setup: Copper modded gpu (9400mg) to cool off the internal temps
    500gb 7200rpm
    2.4 core 2 duo (p8600)
    9400mg overclocked.

Also where can i find a good ssd for my xps13 because dell replaced my hdd do to it making noised but the new one still makes a lot of noise, they even replaced the motherboard still no help, ssd should help plus be a hell lot faster

Why bother getting such a fast CPU anyways? Your Notebook will still be slow as hell in newer games because of your slow video card..

did you stop to think that i might not be a huge game person.
and by the way I have xps 1340 specs are in my signature and im able to run crysis on all medium setting with NO LAG!! i overclocked my 9400mg from stock 450/1100 to 475/1200 and i could go easily upto 500/1250 which would perform even better... but since it can run a very demanding game like crysiss it shows that this video card isnt as bad you might think! yes its not for real gamers thats 100% but its one of the best cards that come for 13ch laptop other than 9500m duo combo.

By the way I have copper modded my xps1340 so no matter how much i overclock anything my sh*t stays cool

May I ask for the dimensions of your copper sheet? Of all the times I've opened it up, I never got around to measuring it

Isnt the 9400 an onboard chips? Does it really perform that good  ? I thought only the 4670 could play Crysis at Medium Settings.
How come a much slower card can do so as well? (I havnt tried crysis on my computer yet.)

*edit* I just did some researching and from the informations I could gather the 9400m plays crysis around 14FPS when played with all Medium settings.
Not calling you a liar, thats just what I found out. "Crysis. 1024×768, medium settings, AA/AF off: 13.2 FPS." From the PC Magazine review.

Well you got the P8600 now? that was a great choice. I love mine too :p

I made my sheet at about 15x 13.5 mm! its a lil bigger but thats a good thing its ok for a copper shim to be a lil bigger just make sure its not smaller! What I did basicly since i wouldnt find no sheets on internet or ebay, I bought a small copper pipe (tube) from a hardware store and used the owner's metal sissors to cut the pipe ( now its not a perfectly shapped cut) afterwards I went home and hammered it flat! then applied SA5 paste to gpu and heatsink, and made sure to put the non- scratched surface on the gpu die and the scuffed surfuce on heatsink side..

I completely believe you on frame rates and medium settinngs that iss true, but are you aware if that test was done on ddr2 or ddr3 memory? because on dd3 it runs upto 33% faster and also remember i overclocked it ( even tho its not much a see lil gains) the frames might be around 18-20 because when i have like 3 enemies it does get a lil coppy, i dont anything to count the frame rates other than my eye because it would lower the frps a lil and its not like they're high enough to brag about! Im just saying its a nice laptop and the storngest 13 inch out right now!!
Im thinking about getting a Y550 15 inch lenovo, u can build one for as lil as $700 with Geforce 130M gt 512m mb video card! thats a pretty nice card looking at its 3dmark05 scores!! nice looking lappy too!

I just downloaded fraps, it runs 30 average on all low settings in crysis, and 14 on all medium. ur right! still to note i runs pretty well in other games like cod4.
im still planin on getting y550 with 130m gt 512mb
