    Hello all,
As the thread implies I am getting the BSOD,
I've had the laptop for 1 Day- ONE DAY
and every time i switch to performance mode (battery setting) aka switch to the 9400 it goes blue, eveytime the computer tries to load a disk it goes blue. I'm running it in battery saving mode and its fine.
I have a feeling its the graphics card

    my system is a
    vista Prem 640bit
    8600
    4GB DD3
    and an Nvidia 9500

If anyone has a clean install guide link or could tell me which install (drivers) order gave them the best results for a clean install that would be greatly appreciated.

I spent 4 hours on tech support today and i'm getting a tech to come in to fix the DVD drive (which is busted for sure), i told them to bring a new mobo just in case.

I still have faith in the 1340 when its running it runs well but right now I hate it.

    Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the links, this being my fist dell. This is kind of a dumb question but do I have media direct installed on my studio XPS? and did it come with a disk or do i have to download it?

    thank you

It should be installed. If not check that link for the program.

I use VLC Player and Media Player Classic instead on Media Direct.

I feel your pain. went through all the tips and tricks to slim down vista. finally got online with a dell chat session. They knew already what the problem was.

Three of the windows updates are screwing with our systems. THey uninstalled:

    1) KB973879
    2) KB970653
    3) KB972036

I have not had a bluescreen once since they took them out. hope this helps!
