    Hi all-

It appears I have one of the few reliable XPS 1340s (at least from the sounds of NBR forums) as I have not had power issues or overheating problems. What I do have is a question about CPU support, since Dell technical support either refuses to provide a straight answer or simply doesn't know.

My system came with the standard P8700 CPU - 2.5ghz 3Mb cache, 1066mhz bus.

But would the A14 BIOS support:

    P9700
    T9900
    QX9300

All these are socket-compatible and run the same speed of bus. I have an opportunity to source any of these for pretty cheap prices, and this along with a basic SSD would be a pretty decent boost for this machine, which is going to be recycled into a media center PC. Anyone tried out an aftermarket CPU?
