I ordered a new XPS13 a few weeks ago and it arrived this Friday. The thing is that although I specified that I wanted Intel Wireless, it came with the Dell 1505 Wireless instead.

Did Dell screw up? What should I do?

call Dell's Customer Support and inform them of the issue. if you did indeed pay for the Intel wireless device, they'll probably send a technician to you and he'll exchange the parts.

They said that they put the Dell one in for "compatibility reasons" (Vista64)... even though Intel has always had 64bit drivers. Gah!

I'd say thats unacceptable as you PAID for the Intel Wireless, you should GET the Intel Wireless. Its not up to them for "compatibilities"
They Bait & Switching. Call them back and demand the Intel Wireless.

My card also works with Vista x64 without any problems. Intel supports the hardware on Vista x64.

Most likely, you just got a bad contact at Dell, and need to call or chat with them again to get someone who knows what they're saying. Remember that with distributed user support, the first answer might not be the same as the second answer, or the third, or the fourth... Regardless, if you selected the Intel option, then tell them to send you the Intel card.

If you encounter further resistance, hang up on the support agent, call again for a new one, and state that you're extremely disappointed with the lies, deception, and run-around, that you're disgusted with your Dell experience, and that you're thinking of returning your computer for a full refund (if you're still within the 21 day window) unless someone fulfills your order.

Do you think they would send someone to change it or would I have to send it back to Dell.. I really don't want to be without a laptop for a couple weeks... Might not be worth the trouble (the Intel and the Dell wireless were both the same price).
