    XPS 13 9370 4K LCD firmware restore help?

    Hello guys. My friend accidentally flashed the wrong LCD FW using the dell fw update tool, now i need to help him fix it. Using a usb to HDMI works and i can see the OS, but i don't think i can restore the FW with the dell tool (hoping the one provided works).

    I can do a hardware flash using a programmer but i need a working FW and some steps on which MCU to look for.

    So i managed to re-flash the FW, but the FW i have is not working, i need someone to dump me a working one please!

    Sadly finding a 9370 4k owner who has a programmer is going to be limited. How did you flash the LCD firmware with the Dell bios? I wasn't even aware they were packaged together.

    Well i don't think he need a programmer to dump the firmware. The tool supplied by Dell can do that after i read the documentation. I didn't flash the bios, seems to be a different controller for DP running its own firmware. The tool is inside the package supplied by Dell's website. They just provided a FW that breaks the screen though, more people have the same issue, and Dell support is plain crap.

    I guess I'm confused. So you didn't specifically flash the LCD firmware? It was through a normal Dell bios install?

    Have you tried doing the recovery steps? Have you tried older versions of the bios that worked? What about doing an automatic recovery by pressing the power button for 30 seconds and letting the laptop recover it's own bios?

    Ah I see, I didn't know Dell had released a LCD firmware update, that makes more sense.

    Sadly I do not see any dumps on the internet for a Sharp SHP148B (LQ133D1). Nor do I know how one would create a dump without a JTAG. My guess is your buddy may have to just have Dell replace the screen (since they should have had flags in place to prevent an LCD firmware update on a non-compatible screen).

    The odd thing is that LCD Firmware doesn't specify which panel it works on.

    Looking in the file itself shows that it "supports" a few different XPS laptops.

    There is a folder for "FW tool for Italia UHD PSR lag workaround 180914" but it shows the model is a NT71870 (not even sure what that is).
