Probably the worst laptop I've ever owned hands down. I have absolutely zero issues with my old Sony Viao.. It has constant slowdowns, random internet wifi drops and now it no longer charges. My gf has an XPS 12 and its fine. Both chargers work on the other one, so its definitely the laptop.

I pulled the back off and the connection looks fine. Do I just need to replace the charging port, or what can I do here?

It wont charge period regardless so I assume its a hardware issue since it won't charge when its off either.

Since they are the same laptop did you even try the batter swap to see what it does? That would be the smart thing to do first and then if it charges that would tell you the battery is bad and need to get a new battery. As you mentioned both chargers work on one but you failed to swap batteries for final test to check if the battery was bad. And why would a battery that is no longer charging take a charge when off is obvious it no longer can charge and powering off won't make it charge.

Good idea I will try that.

My off test was more along the lines of that it is not a software issue. Its hardware. I will swap the battery's and see what happens.

Late reply...finally got time to do this:

Swapped the battery's between the two XPS12's -- No change. So obviously its not the battery. To triple check I put the 2nd XPS 12 on the same charger and it charges, so its definitely neither the battery, nor the charger with certainty.

Anything else I can try to determine where the problem is? If its the motherboard im trashing this thing. Hands down the worst laptop I've ever owned. My prior Sony Vaio had zero issues until I sold it solely to gain battery life for school. This thing has great battery life...or had. Everything else sucks on it.

Nevermind -- I think I got it. I was searching for the cost of a new motherboard for info and found a video on how to swap the DC input. I just swapped it (took literally 2mins) and now its charging!

Dell XPS 12 9Q23 9Q33 Power Input with Cable DC Jack NVR98

Guess I will order the part and live with this thing for a little while longer...
