Has anyone tried installing Windows Server 2008 on their 1730 machine yet? I've found some instructions for setting it up, essentially as a high-end Vista workstation, however I was wondering if anyone has done it specifically with the 1730 hardware and if so, how it worked with the SLI video cards.

    Here’s the URL's I was referring to. http://blogs.msdn.com/vijaysk/archi...indows-server-2008-as-a-super-desktop-os.aspx

BTW, day two with my new 1730 system in the "testing" stage...the revised ship date remains 3/17 (original date was 3/10). Stay tuned.

    Thanks!

yep i installed it last week works great so far def. has lower foot print than vista on boot up. so far every thing runs well, virus software is the only issue since most wont recognise server as compatible, did simple bench mark with super-pi and its about 2 seconds faster than under vista. Will be getting crisis next week and will run it under both to see is there any performance dif. Since that’s one of the most taxing games there is for performance check
Drivers just use the vista ones they all work

    Features to add:
    Desktop experience and wireless.

I set it up for work for using virtual machines but depending on how it performers with crysis I might ditch vista altogether, on boot up you wont notice the difference. (once you make config changes)
