Hello, I am receiving a replacement laptop soon. I have not received it, but I have a couple of questions. It has the 1 gb ATI gfx card.. 4670 i think?? Now from what I understand, this is relatively new. On dell's website it says any laptops ordered between june 26th and december 31st qualify. Anyone know if there is any way for me to check for sure?

    Thanks

I didn't buy it. I am getting it as a replacement laptop. They are sending me a refurbished SXPS 16 for my XPS M1530

    Then you won't qualify. Sorry.

You may want to look into other ways of getting Windows 7 however. If you are a student you may be able to get it through MSDNAA. Or possibly even a student discount through your school if they don't have MSDNAA. Otherwise I'd imagine you'll be able to buy OEM copies of Home Premium on Newegg for around $99, give or take $10-20.

Will this laptop not qualify because of the fact that it's a replacement? or because it is most likely built before June 26th?

It has nothing to do about when the laptop was built, but has everything to do with the fact that they are giving you it as a replacement. You need to purchase a laptop between those dates to be able to get that deal.

Yes you will qualify but you will have to wait 10 to 14 days before you can fill out the free upgrade form .

Thanks for your replies. I guess I'll wait 10-14 days after I receive it and fill out the upgrade form and see what happens.

You were wrong. I put in my service tag on Dell's Windows 7 updgrade site and it said my system is eligible.

They ended up sending me a brand new one instead of a refurb.
