I've only ever heard bad things about this company from other people's experience.

Anyway here is my tracking info.

1/25/2008 8:54 pm Processed at DHL Location. Roanoke Hub, VA
8:40 pm In transit. Roanoke Hub, VA
7:56 pm Transit through DHL facility Roanoke Hub, VA
7:23 am Depart Facility Atlanta Hub, GA
1/24/2008 5:15 pm Processed at DHL Location. Atlanta Hub, GA
5:10 pm In transit. Atlanta Hub, GA
12:00 am Shipment Acknowledged Nashville, TN
    Picked Up by DHL.

I live in NC (near VA border) Am I being impatient/unreasonable or is it stupid that they sent my package from TN to GA to VA. ( I just KNOW they used the major highway going into VA from NC which has an exit less than 2 miles from my house to ship it to Roanoke VA which is a couple hours away).

What's really irking me is that on my way to class this morning I saw a DHL truck on that highway heading towards Virginia and now I just can't shake the feeling that my M1330 was so close yet probably won't get to me until like Monday. :/

Because DHL was the lowest bidder.

DHL is the lowest bidder 'cause they suck and they know it.

Anyway, if there was a problem Dell will back you up and fix it. So don't worry (much) about it.

I should have forked over the extra cash for the fastest shipping option. *sigh* :(

DHL trucks do not carry Dell's packages exclusively. Further a transit truck is different from a delivery truck, although they reuse the same vehicle, and can only pickup/deliver to DHL centers. Sometimes to avoid losing packages, many small packages are packed together into a reuseable sealed container. So even if you hijack a transit truck, you will have to open up many containers to find your package. Dell doesn't pay for weekend deliveries and if your package arrives at DHL center and is not processed before the Friday morning delivery cut off time, your package can be delivered only on Monday. Once you understand the logistics involved, you'll appreciate their work in getting your package from Dell.

Okay thanks. I have no intention of hijacking a transit truck...yet lol. I'm probably just being impatient and paranoid after reading some of the DHL horror stories online.

Maybe I'll get really lucky and it'll show up tomorrow.

Heh,was supposed to get overnight service on both m1530's,after tracking info showed pkg(s) were at their hub in my city and "out for delivery" ea time they held on to the pkg at the hub and didn't even make an attempt to deliver either one. THEY SUCK ASS SUPREME,I ended up having to drive 23 miles one way twice and pick both laptops up myself.
Overnight delivery= 4 day delay on the 1st pkg
Overnight delivery= 3 day delay on the 2nd pkg
oh,and if I had not gone to pick them up,who knows how much longer it would have taken.

In the EU they use UPS, even though they are more expensive than DHL, but much much better.

I've had just the opposite experience with DHL as opposed to UPS. My system went from boxing to shipping on a Sunday night which I figured DHL would pick up on Monday and deliver Tuesday with the overnight option. DHL was at my Door around 11am Monday morning. I was very impressed, my package went from "Shipment Acknowledged" to "Delivered" in less than 12 hours. I'm sure this is extremely rare, but don't give up on DHL just yet.

DHL has been good to me, I order stuff overseas every year and they come on time in one piece. But I have the best experience with Fedex.

I wouldn't worry myself too much.. DHL has been awesome to me in comparison to other carriers. I've yet to wait more than 4 business days MAX from them.

I had no problems with the DHL delivery of my 1530...I wasn't home to receive it, so I had to pick it up after work at the local DHL depot ;)

I was happy that they didn't leave it at my doorstep ;) :)

FedEx blows too. Just in the last month, they screwed up two deliveries to me. The first one was a Priority Overnight Package that never came. When I called they told me "I wasn't home", which was BS, and a notice was never left. The second package was a ground package I waited over a week for. When it never arrived, I called and they told me it was sent back to the shipper because I had an "undeliverable address". More BS. FedEx and the shipper both confirmed the correct address was on the package.

For the record I have never had any issues with DHL. I've received my Dell shipments on time. In fact I received a return waybill from Dell as my system was exchanged. I called the DHL 800 number, entered the info and DHL was at my door within 45 minutes to pickup the package.

I've also had DHL go out of their way to track me down by cell phone to inform me they had my package so as to try and setup a time for delivery.

Strange? Dell shipped my XPS via FedEX to my place in Tacoma, WA. It was shipped from Reno, NV.

    DHL is not bad.
Fedex service has declined, UPS has improved and DHL is about the same over the years.

Had a dell battery shipped through DHL. Expected date of delivery was on a Friday afternoon between 2-7pm.

I called DHL Friday morning at 11a.m. as website tracker stated item was at depot. DHL rep stated item was indeed at Depot 20 miles away and that she would flag the item for pickup as I would not be available from 2-7p.m.

By sheer coincidence, my buzzer rings while I am on the phone. It's the DHL guy with my battery. I didn't know how to think: happy I didn't have to spend an hour picking up the package, but dismayed that their system indicated package was at the depot and their delivery hours were really off.

Who knows. DHL may be cheaper. They used to ship UPS...and I don't know why they changed. DHL seems to have relatively sub-par services compared to UPS and even USPS.

I can top that one. When my Vostro was due to be delivered on a day I wasn't going to be home, I called early in the morning and arranged to pick it up. They took my tracking number and gave me directions to the DHL location it would be at. Later that day when I get there to pick it up, they can't find it. Finally after 15 minutes they tell me it was delivered to my neighbor's house.

not really my company been using DHL for 6 yrs and they are good. Lately, we switched to Fedex, and they are the worst in cs.
I try to make claim for some lost shipments and they just keep me running around from dept to dept, right now i give up and go back to DHL.
I vote 95 for DHL and 60 for Fedex, never use UPS.

I HATE DHL, they are far and away the worst package delivery company. Does this make any sense:

6/14/2008 11:57 am Arrived at DHL facility. Minneapolis, MN
3:05 am Depart Facility Minneapolis Regional Hub, MN
6/13/2008 6:28 pm Processed at DHL Location. Minneapolis Regional Hub, MN
6:21 pm In transit. Minneapolis Regional Hub, MN
5:51 pm Transit through DHL facility Minneapolis Regional Hub, MN
7:46 am Depart Facility Niles Regional Hub, MI
1:00 am Processed at DHL Location. Niles Regional Hub, MI
6/12/2008 12:00 am Shipment Acknowledged Nashville, TN

    1. Why is it necessary to move it from 1 place in Minneapolis to another??

    and

    2. How the hell could it take 9 hours for that to happen??? I have never seen such redundency and inefficency in a tracking service then when I am expecting something via DHL.

UPS has definitely been the most reliable of the 3 for me, although they haven't been perfect either. One time they left a $200 radio I had shipped on the doorstep of the wrong address, in the wrong town! When they finally tracked down their mistake, the owner of the house that the package was left at denied ever receiving it. Eventually UPS paid me for the item.

Dell used to ship via Airborne Express which got bought out by DHL. I suspect there is some long term loyalty or some contractual thing going on.
