I am going to update the drivers on my xps 1530 for the first time. I will be using the laptopvideo2go drivers, and i have read thru the tutorials etc. Ihave a couple of questions for M1530 owners:
1. Which driver series do you use? 177.xx or 176.xx etc
2. Is the higher the series number the better? Like 177>176>175
3. Which driver series should I install today? I found the latest series was 177 and am planning to install them.. have you guys faced any problems with the same?
PS: I Have read the LV2G forums and know which series has what advantage. But i wanted to know that which one works best on 1530 machines.

Higher is not always better. Dell just released 175.97 drivers. They seem to work well, and are newer than most of the 177.xx drivers floating around.

i actually installed the new dell driver that just lou linked me to in an earlier thread. its been workin fine for the last few days. haven't ran into any real problems yet.

I have heard good things about using the latest Dell driver. So I would probably just stick with that.
The latest driver is 177.66 (well it may not be the latest, but it is the highest number, nvidia does some confusing stuff sometimes). And some have had success with it, I found that with our M1530's, it does not work the best. Oddly enough, it is a very cool (temp wise) running driver. And it 3dmark06 very well. But in some of the games I play (mainly TF2), it did not perform well at all. Lots of stuttering. Others @ LV2G have experienced that too with similar laptops. -
in my XPS, the 2007 dell NVIDIA driver can play Blue Ray DVD in my XPS1530.
176 or 177 NVIDIA driver from laptopvideo2go CAN'T play Blue Ray DVD.
so it's not correct that the higher the better. -
Thanks all for the help
I installed 175.97 (the dell update)
I dont know the difference from the earlier version right now but there seem to be no problems in the display. The temperatures are still the same I was hoping that they will go down.

Im playing 1080p movies just fine. Not off a Blu-Ray drive though, so I cant speak for that part. It works fine off the HD though.

What works 'best' for you though is subjective and it might vary so you would have to try different drivers
