I had my XPS 16 a few months now. I peeled off the little clear plastic stickers that were on the silver part of the hinge that didn't seem to do anything. I'm going to peel off the Windows 7 and Intel stickers because they're starting to get dirty.

Are there 2 stickers on lower part of the screen casing? To see what I mean, open the laptop like your using it, and look below where it says "Dell" and look a drop to the left, just right of the vent, and the other one way to the right, also below the "Dell." Can/should these be removed?

Anyone do anything "extreme" like remove the plastic film over the screen?

    Your daring! :p XD kidding.
LoL. I haven't removed any plastic or stickers from my 1647, yet. Honestly, I don't think I plan to until things start falling off, or peeling away. But, I understand what you are saying about the plastic tabs by the hinges.

(I just tried to put them out of my mind so I dont start 'picking' at them) Now, back in my head!!!

There was a thread going on where someone did take off the plastic, revealing a non-glossy screen!

    Can't find it though...............

lol I still have those clear plastic sticker-covers on my hinges, and my Intel / Windows sticker are still clean and intact. I don't really mind them on there, and probably won't peel them off unless they start to noticeably peel themselves.
