Is the size of the hdd 2.5 or 3.5 cause if it's is I'm interested in installing a 1TB @7200 rpms :D

    if not, I guess I'll keep the 320 GB @ 7200 rpms, would I see a performance gain ?

It's 2.5". It's been a long time since any conventional portable machine has had a 3.5" HDD. If you kept the 320GB drive would you see a performance gain in what? I don't understand the question... if you want a real performance boost, buy an SSD.

I really want to .... expensive

okay .. let me rephrase, would I get a better performance boost ( wont be much ) if I get a 500 Gb HDD @ 7200 rpms vs. the 320 Gb at 7200 rpms ?

I think this'll come down to how those two drives are built. If you've got two 160GB platters in that 320GB drive, the 500GB drive will be nominally faster. If you've got a single 320GB platter in the 320GB unit, the 500GB will most likely not be any faster. Either way the relative performance difference between the drives is small enough such that you probably won't notice a difference.
